International Projects

Jeunesses Musicales International and the local member sections arrange an array of international projects. These projects act as beacons to the world for the organization, and many of the projects have been recognized by UNESCO as Artists for Peace.

Beside these projects, Jeunesses Musicales Norway sends several musicians to projects organized by other JM organisations world wide. For complete overview of the international projects in English, please see www.jmi.net

Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra

Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra was founded in 1970 by Canadian Gilles Lefevbre as the world's first international youth orchestra.

The orchestra soon gained reputation as an orchestra of high artistic quality and as a symbol of international understanding and peace. In 1996 the orchestra was awarded UNESCO's honorary title “Artist for Peace”.

Jeunesses Musicales Norway has helped young Norwegian musicians to participate in the World orchestra since it was established in 1970. You can find more information about next years's session here.

World Youth Choir (WYC)

The World Youth Choir was established in 1989 as one of the most interesting musical experiences for young singers.

Each year the choir invites a mix of old and new singers to a new country to rehearse before doing a tour. The repertoire spans from well-known masterpeices to contemporary music conducted by some of the worlds best choir conductors.

Summer session 2009 will be held in Gent, Belgium thanks to the collaboration of "Koor & Stem" with the "Vlaams Federatie van Jonge Koren", the City of Gent, the Province of Oost Vlaaderen and the Vlaamse Gemeenschap. The conductors of 2009 are Johan Duijck from the Flemish part of Belgium and Ana Maria Raga from Venezuela. Program of the year will be Early 20th English music and music from Latin-America.

The Auditions for next World Youth Choir Summer Session in Belgium will be open in September.
