Towards this end JMN will facilitate courses, seminars, projects and similar efforts. JMN will:
Be a contact network for young musicians; national, international students and young professionals.
Contribute to participation in international ensemble projects and help international projects wanting to establish themselves in Norway.
Put focus on the importance of facilitating musical experiences for children and youth, and help contribute to music being an integral part of their everyday life.
Contribute to self-development and cultural understanding through music for both audience and performers independently of musical genre and national borders.
Jeunesses Musicales Norway was established in 1970 as a part of the organization Musikk i Skolen (Music in the School). Since then, JMN has been both a foundation and an integrated section of Norsk Musikkråd (The Norwegian Music Council). In connection with the restructuring of Norsk Musikkråd in 2005, JMN was transferred back to Musikk i Skolen from 1st January 2006.
